It’s a snowy Throwback Thursday! Can you remember what life was like in 1988? President Ronald Reagan was in the last year of his second term as president and Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev planted started the end of Communism with a major Soviet economic restructuring – remember “perestroika”! C. Everett Koop was Surgeon General and he was a frequent presence in the news. One of his reports noted that nicotine addiction was similar to heroin and cocaine.  Michael Dukakis lost the presidential election to President George H. W. Bush, who became the first vice-president elected president in over 150 years. And….Fixed and Adjustable Rate Mortgages looked a lot different back then. See the chart below.
