At Sweethomeva.com we hear the same question from many home sellers: is this a good time to sell my home in Northern Virginia? Each home seller’s circumstances vary, so we are unable to provide a definitive answer to that question. However, we are happy to let prospective home sellers know that new Northern Virginia real estate market data shows healthy growth in Prince William County and Fairfax County home sales in 2012 over the previous year.
Year end figures released by Real Estate Business Intelligence (RBI) show that Prince William County and Fairfax County home sales volume for the year ending December 2012 increased by double digits over last year’s numbers in both counties. Sales prices were up nicely as well, with Prince William County making substantial gains in average sales price and median sales price.
The only indicator with a negative year over year change was average days on market. Excellent news for home sellers! In Fairfax County, nearly 33% of homes sold (4,518 units) in 2012 were sold within 10 days of being listed on the market.
