March is Virginia Wine & Dine Month

Did you know that March is Virginia Wine Dine Month? I didn’t, but I’m so glad I found out and doubly glad to share the good news. Virginiawine.org has a list of all wine & dine month events in the Northern Virginia region.  If you want to venture beyond our region, you can also visit the site to do a statewide search for events. Take a look at the local wine events in our own backyard.

St Patty’s Day & Roll out the Barrel

Fox Meadow will pair special Irish Cheeses with their Fox Meadow award winning wines.  The pairings are included in the standard tasting and Friends Of Fox Members are free. See here to learn more about FOF membership.

Cost: $6.00 per person

Interested in your own barrel of wine? Fox Meadow Winery will also have a “Roll Out the Barrel” silent auction of 5 barrels – 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Minimum bid is $20 per barrel. The auctions will take place from 2p-5p on Saturday and 2p-4p on Sunday. Want a barrel, but not the auction? 6 barrels will be for sale this weekend for $75 each, first come/first served.

Barrel Tasting Series: The Art & Science of Wine

This ongoing educational series at Philip Carter Winery in Fauquier County includes a guided tour by an experienced wine educator, tasting of 5 wines in their cellar, food pairings with each wine, full tasting of wines in the tasting room, and a keepsake Philip Carter corkscrew.
